Getting Started
This guide covers connecting your URX Core65 and understanding its layout and operating modes.
Connecting the Keyboard
The URX Core65 is a dedicated wired mechanical keyboard:
- Connect the included braided USB-C cable to the Type-C port on the keyboard.
- Plug the USB-A end into your computer (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
- The keyboard is plug-and-play and will be instantly recognized by your operating system.
Windows and macOS Layout Switch
You can easily switch between Windows and macOS operating layout modes:
- Windows Mode: Hold FN + A for 3 seconds.
- macOS Mode: Hold FN + S for 3 seconds.
- Blink Indication: The Caps Lock LED will blink in Yellow to confirm:
- 1 time for Windows mode.
- 3 times for macOS mode.
Modifier Key Differences
When switching modes, bottom-row modifier keys adapt automatically:
| Key Position | Windows Mode (FN + A) | macOS Mode (FN + S) |
|---|---|---|
| Left Alt | Alt | Command (⌘) |
| Right Alt | Alt | Command (⌘) |
| Left Ctrl | Control | Control |
| Right Ctrl | Control | Option (⌥) |
| Win Key | Windows (Start Menu) | Option (⌥) |
| Delete | Delete | Delete |
Understanding Keyboard Layers
The URX Core65 uses function layers to provide a full keyboard experience in a compact 65% form factor (66 keys + 1 knob):
- Base Layer (Layer 0): Default typing and navigation layer.
- FN Layer (Layer 1): Accessed by holding the FN key to trigger multimedia controls, RGB modes, and system shortcuts.
- Extra Layers (Layer 2 & Layer 3): Can be fully customized in the software (URX HUB).
You can fully customize your layout, function layers, and the rotary knob using URX HUB.
Rotary Knob Function
The integrated tactile rotary knob controls media and volume out of the box:
- Rotate Clockwise: Volume Up
- Rotate Counter-Clockwise: Volume Down
- Press Down: Mute / Unmute Audio
(Knob rotation and click actions can be fully customized in URX HUB).
